These images come from a series I worked on last year, called Retail. I have only ever worked retail jobs so I've become accustomed to being treated like something less than a human being. Sometimes at work I feel like I live in a different world just because of the way people treat me because I wear a uniform and work behind the counter. These feelings prompted my series, where I explored what it's like to work a retail job. I chose to pair portraits with images of my store to show what the average day looks like when you're an employee. A lot of the people I work with are proud of their job while others hate it. With this series I wanted to capture the human side of the retail industry. We do our jobs with smiles on our faces but behind every smile there is a different story.
